Originally from Kinross, South Africa, Andrea Lisa is a soulful and captivating new solo artist. Her band started in New Zealand a few years ago, and they have performed with some of the country’s finest musicians at the New Zealand National Jazz and Blues Festival, the Mission Bay Jazz and Blues Streetfest, Auckland Music in the Parks, and Waitakere Sounds. The Andrea Lisa Band is definitely no stranger to the New Zealand Music Scene. They have held residencies at SKY CITY, The Langham Hotel, The Marina Restaurant, Bistro 65, and CAC Bar. They have also played for the Fiji International Jazz and Blues Festival 2011, and will be playing for the 2012 Festival as well. The band has recently relocated to Australia, and they have performed at several venues in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. In February 2012, they had the privilege of being the supporting act for Grammy Nominated South African musician Jonathan Butler. They had a lot of great reviews online following the show, including:

Andrea is a strong multi-instrumentalist and talented songwriter. Her original music draws influences from a wide variety of artists including Esperanza Spalding, Kurt Elling, Miles Davis, Sylvain Luc, Corinne Bailey Rae, Donny Hathaway, John Mayer, Tamia and George Benson.
Andrea released her debut EP entitled “So Sweet” in January 2012. It features fives of her original songs, chosen from her vast collection of originals. The CD includes an additional instrumental version of the title track.
After receiving the Dux of Arts award at Waitakere College in 2007, Andrea went on to study at the New Zealand School of Music. She graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree majoring in Jazz Guitar and Jazz Vocals, passing her graduation recital with an A+. She studied under some of New Zealand’s finest musicians including Phil Broadhurst, Rodger Fox, LA Mitchell, Lance Su’a, Neil Watson and more.
Andrea has also performed with some established international artists such as Frank Gibson, Rodger Fox, Brian Smith, John Fedchock, Tama Waipara, Dylan Elise, Alan Brown and more.
The Andrea Lisa Band specialise in Crossover Jazz, Soul, Funk, Latin and RnB. They also play Traditional Jazz and depending on the gig they may play some pop covers if required. Their sound is creative and fresh with grooving rhythms, heartfelt vocals and passionate, burning solos.
