Hugo Sanchez, a native of Venezuela, started playing the piano at the age of eight. After graduating in computer science and working as a software programmer in his country, Sanchez came to the United States to pursue a bachelor degree in jazz studies at the University of New Orleans where he was awarded with the Basin Street Jazz scholarship. In the Crescent City Hugo Sanchez studied jazz improvisation with world class jazz artist, Mr. Terence Blanchard. After obtaining his degree and working with different music artists from New Orleans, Sanchez moved to Florida to attend the University of Miami where he was awarded with a full tuition scholarship. During his graduate studies at this prestigious university, Sanchez studied arranging and orchestration with Mr. Gary Lindsay, film scoring with Dr. Raul Murciano. Hugo Sanchez has performed with many music artists and musical institutions such as Delfeayo Marsalis, Cheo Feliciano, Tito Puente Jr., The Florida Sunshine Pops Orchestra under the direction of Mr. Richard Hayman, and the Florida Classical Orchestra. Hugo Sanchez composes, arranges and produce music for private projects in his home studio in Miami , Florida and is the Music Director for the Key Biscayne Presbyterian Church.
