Peter Boe

I have been active in Jazz since '75. I've had the good fortune to play with many greats, some of which include Sonny Stitt, Joe Henderson, Freddie Hubbard, Lew Tabackin, John Handy, Bobby Hutcherson, Bill Henderson, Jimmy Witherspoon, Mark Murphy, Woody Shaw, Emily Remler, Milt Jackson, Eddie Harris, and many others. I also spent 9 years touring the world with The Robert Cray Band, winning two Grammy awards in the process.

Television appearances include The Tonight Show with both Carson and Leno, The Today Show, Arsenio Hall Show, Late Night with David Letterman, Saturday Night Live, and numerous television appearances around the world.

I am currently involved in producing and performing in 'East Meets West Meets East', a roughly quarterly concert series held at Jimmy Mak's in Portland, wherein an internationally renowned artist is invited to play a one-night show with myself and my NYC rhythm section, consisting of the world-renowned bass and drums team of Essiet Okon Essiet and Sylvia Cuenca. I also give private piano instruction and do freelance studio session work, as well as perform at local clubs, concerts, and private events.

From the Portland Oregonian:

"Peter Boe, a Portland jazz pianist who earned his acclaim as a two-time Grammy winner with the Northwest's favorite soul man, Robert Cray, is as fluent as they come.

Self-taught from a tender age, Boe came up through Portland's fertile jazz scene in the late '70s and early '80s, playing all of the city's famed clubs as well as serving sideman stints with the likes of Sonny Stitt, Joe Henderson, Freddie Hubbard, Milt Jackson, Eddie Harris and scores of others.

After eight fruitful, globe-hopping years with Cray, and five more with Portland bluesman Curtis Salgado, Boe hung up his road shoes in favor of raising a son, teaching some 30 students a week, and privately honing his own already formidable chops."
