Formed in 2011 Preston-Glasgow-Lowe are a new dynamic group consisting of 3 of London's most creative young instrumentalists. Sharing on-stage credentials with esteemed musicians such as John Scofield, the Foreign Exchange, Melody Gardot, Robert Mitchell, and Tommy Smith, they bring a unique and seasoned sound derived from their work as side-men combined with their shared love of improvisation, intricate composition, rhythm, and accessible melodies. Aiming to expand upon the format of the guitar trio they combine their virtuosic skills as soloists and accompanists with extensive composition and elaborate arrangements.
David Preston was born 1984 in London. He studied at Trinity College of Music, he has recorded and performed internationally with Melody Gardot, and toured the UK with Ian Shaw featuring on 3 of his albums and musically directing two of them. He has also worked with UK-based instrumentalists Martin Taylor, Barak Schmool & F-IRE Collective, Peter Ind, Zhenya Strigalev, Empirical & Ayanna Witter Johnson, Mark Mondesir, Mike Mondesir, Pete King, Julian Siegal and Guy Barker.
He has performed at the Glasgow, Edinburgh, Cheltenham, Cork and London Jazz Festivals as well as at London venues, Palladium, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Ronnie Scotts, the Vortex, 606, BBC Radio 1 & 3. As part of the 2010 Melody Gardot tour he also played at L'Olympia concert hall in Paris.
He has currently been involved in many diverse projects including leading the group Meridian with Empirical drummer Shane Forbes, recording a quartet EP of his own original compositions featuring Ernesto Simpson, Brandon Allen & Tom Farmer, MD to Ian Shaw, and writing with Melody Gardot earlier in 2012.
Kevin Glasgow was born in Inverness in 1983 to musical parents Dick and Sabine. When he was 9 years old the family moved to Northern Ireland, where he started learning guitar and playing traditional Irish music sessions with his parents.
At the age of 16 Kevin began playing bass guitar and later moved back to Scotland to study Popular Music at Napier University in Edinburgh. Whilst there he played regularly on the Edinburgh jazz circuit. Since graduating, he has played internationally at venues such as Ronnie Scott's, the 606, the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola (Lincoln Center NYC) and festivals such as Glastonbury, Xerox Rochester International, Edmonton International Jazz Festival Jazz Festival, Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival, the Isle of White Jazz Festival, the Glasgow International Jazz & Blues Festival, and the London Jazz Festival.
He has performed with Tommy Smith, Tony Monaco, Clark Tracey, Joe Locke, Gareth Lockrane , Alex Garnett, and the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra (featuring soloists such as John Scofield, Bill Evans, Randy Brecker, Peter Erskine and Julian Joseph). Kevin has also performed on BBC Radio Scotland and BBC Radio 3.
In 2008 Kevin moved to London where he now resides. He currently plays bass and guitar in a number of projects, including Tommy Smith’s ‘Karma’, the Seb Pipe's Life Experience, the Nicolas Meier Trio, the Bill Mudge Trio and the Alex Hutchings band.
Laurie Lowe has been playing drums since the age of six and has gained experience playing with many different artists in many different genres of music. He began his musical career at Redbridge Music Service, playing orchestral percussion in various ensemble sand had the opportunity to perform in world class venues such as the Royal Albert Hall.
While still in his teens, he was also playing jazz gigs as a freelance musician around the London scene. He left Redbridge music service and then completed a one year course at Drumtech.
Since then Laurie has gone on to play with some of the top Jazz musicians in the country such as; Gilad Atzmon, Nicolas Meier, Jim Mullen, Tony Kofi, Dave O’Higgins, Andy Sheppard, Mike Mondesir, Robert Mitchell, Zhenya Strigalev and Carl Orr, to name a few, in such venues as Ronnie Scott’s, Pizza Express (Dean Street), Charlie Wright’s, 606 and Jazz Café. Laurie has also toured with the Grammy Nominated American Hip Hop/R&B group ‘’The Foreign Exchange’’, receiving widespread critical acclaim.
Laurie is currently involved in various projects including Robert Mitchell's 'Panacea' and funk/fusion group ‘’Groove Razors’’ led by Polish keys player/composer Tomasz Zyrmont.
