With an enormous drive, profoundness and enthousiasm, pianist Rogier Telderman emerges as one of the rising stars from the Dutch jazz scene. He performs and composes for his RTtrio, MELPHI, and a duo with vibist Vincent Houdijk, and has created his own unique voice, balancing between lyrical beauty and adventurous interaction. For his compositions he draws inspiration from daily life, by viewing its natural processes with as compositions in their own right.
He studied with Randal Corsen, Jeroen van Vliet, Rembrandt Frerichs and Willem Kuhne. His band MELPHI was proclaimed winner of the DuvelVibes Challenge 2012, which got their tracks published by the legendary Blue Note Records label. He's currently composing for his duo with vibist Vincent Houdijk and the RT TRIO. He is also a member of the contemporary ensemble TEMKO which investigates the cross-over between minimal music, composition and improvisation. Besides these activities he teaches at the conservatories in Rotterdam and Tilburg, and hosts a monthly session in Jazzclub Paradox.
