UroSoule is and infectious original jazz/soul created by Chicago-based duo of Paul Scherer and Agnieszka Iwanska. “Colors” is a collection of original sultry and sophisticated compositions co-written and produced by fellow Chicagoan Paul Scherer. Scherer assembled a collection of top session musicians from Philadelphia to Los Angeles to create an addictive blend of understated works that pulse with attitude and style.

Agnieszka Iwanska is an accomplished and gifted jazz vocalist, composer and lyricist. Her sultry and sensitive singing style stands out as a fresh and exciting voice in contemporary jazz. As a vocalist, Agnieszka has been hailed as the “voice of promise” by noted jazz critic Howard Reich from the Chicago Tribune. Brad Walseth of WNUA-FM praised her style and performance by noting that “Like Basia, Iwanska is a Polish singer who has taken on the Brazilian sound pioneered by Astrud Gilberto. She sings her well-written songs showing considerable ability, and charms the crowd with her fresh and honest approach.” Agnieszka is a graduate of the Jazz Studies program at the University of Katowice, Poland’s only accredited jazz program. While in Poland, Agnieszka had the opportunity to perform with some of her native country’s top jazz talent. After arriving in the US in 2003, Agnieszka formed her own band; a quintet featuring some of Chicago’s talented jazz musicians. Her debut album "All That I Am" co-written with Paul Scherer had an airplay on more than 110 stations nationwide and was number 38 on Indie Chart. Agnieszka and her band perform throughout the Chicago area, and have been featured artist at many jazz festivals. Among her numerous achievements, Agnieszka received first prize in the Krokus Jazz Festival and second prize in the International Competition of Jazz Vocalists in Zamosc, Poland. She was the first Polish-born vocalist to perform National Anthem at the Chicago Wrigley Field.

Paul Scherer is a pianist, composer and arranger. He has written nearly 100 songs ranging from pop and country to classical works and his first love, jazz. Critics hailed his first CD, Nitemusk, as a fresh approach to instrumental music that always tells a story. His latest CD, Cosmik Kiss, has received critical acclaim and has been featured on WNUA-FM. Paul is a graduate of the University of Delaware, Indiana University and in 2009 will receive his Masters of Music Technology from Indiana as well. He cut his teeth with the American Youth Jazz band, traveling throughout Europe playing big-band jazz.

Following graduate school, Paul became a fixture in the Philadelphia-area jazz community fronting his own bands, and writing for noted jazz singer Ellen Lebowitz. Show less
