Jeff Saxon

While it’s difficult to attach a simple word or phrase to describe Jeff’s sound or songwriting style, one can easily detect its jazz, blues and old-school R&B leanings. The chameleonic New Jersey based artist has been likened to such artists as Eric Clapton, Keb’ Mo’, Bill Withers, Paul Carrack, Bobby Caldwell and Michael McDonald. But no matter what the comparisons are, Saxon’s vocal gifts are undeniable. IAE Magazine (I Am Entertainment) simply called it “a great voice” and a Minor 7th reviewer took it a bit further when they described Saxon as having ”…a voice that is utterly disarming...”

Jeff's 2013 CD release, Blujanova, is a merging of blues, jazz and bossa nova. This hybrid style really shines with Jeff's innovative arrangements of iconic tunes seemingly devoid of jazz or Latin influences, such as "Hound Dog","Riders On The Storm" and "I Got You (I Feel Good)". These highly innovative, musically-rich reworkings of timeless rock and blues classics along with 7 first-rate Saxon originals are included on Jeff's new CD, Blujanova (Relevant Records # RR70713). "The perfect album to put your mind at ease", wrote Dan Cohen, who reviewed the disc for Muse's Muse.

Jeff is a NJ native, but lived and performed in Los Angeles for many years, where he worked in the studio or shared stages with well-known jazz and pop artists such as Dave Koz, Little Richard, Norman Brown, and jazz/fusion group, Hiroshima. Jeff has performed at numerous music festivals on both coasts and his musical talents have drawn praise from a diverse list of public figures, including Quincy Jones and former President Clinton. Jeff has appeared at several film and music festivals, including the 2012 World Music And Independent Film Festival in Washington, D.C.(where he won the award for Best Rock Music Video), The Telluride Blues and Brews Festival and the Philadelphia Music and Film Festival.

Saxon’s compositions have earned him over 35 awards from various national and international songwriting contests including finalist selections in two national competitions; The Hottest New Artist Competition (in Virginia) and the Telluride Blues Festival’s Acoustic Blues Competition (in Colorado). Jeff's also a former staff songwriter for the long-standing New York City- based publisher, Bourne Music and has had numerous song placements in film and TV.

Jeff's CD's, "Blujanova", “Truthteller”, "The Spin" and "Me, Myself, And I" are all available to preview and purchase at cdbaby.com and iTunes. For more info on Jeff Saxon, please visit www.jeffsaxonmusic.com , email: [email protected]
