Nicholas B Hempton

Nick is an Australian saxophonist/clarinettist with over 15 years experience in performance and education. Before relocating to the New York area in 2004, he enjoyed a wide-ranging career as a featured member of numerous small groups, big bands, commercial/pop groups, and cruise-ship and broadway orchestras. He appeared at every major Australian Jazz Festival, as well as performing on stages around the world. He made radio and TV appearances and featured on a dozen commercially released albums. Since his move to the States, as well as composing and performing with his own quartet, Nick has focussed his efforts on music education. Nick has always subscribed to the theory that everyone can make music (and probably should!), and with this in mind, he has taught students from a wide range of backgrounds in a variety of settings. From private lessons to workshops and masterclasses, early-learning programs through school and mature-age students, the goal has always been to encourage students to enjoy making music.
