Biography

Band name: ORQUESTA *ORO* NEGRO

ð Bandleader and founder: OSLEN CEBALLO BRIAN aged 32 and from Havana, Cuba professional musician for approximately 16 years. His principal instrument is the trumpet but he also plays:

ð trombone

ð flugelhorn

ð piano/keyboard

ð guitar and tres

ð congas/timbales/bongos

ð He is composer, songwriter and also arranges and produces his own music.

ð His international career started with SIERRA MAESTRA (1999-2004), a band with which he performed during the prime time of the ‘Buena vista social club’ in several hundred concerts worldwide. He entered the world-renowned band AFRO CUBAN ALL STARS by Juan de Marcos in 2005 due to his desire to play with a big orchestra. Currently he is still a member of this band but in march 2007 he followed his love to Hamburg/Germany and where in 2007 he founded his own band and project named *ORO*NEGRO to fulfil his biggest dream which is playing his own music.

ð Alejandro Suarez, bandmember of SIERRA MAESTRA said about Oslen: “…for me he is one of the biggest talents Cuba has at the time being….”

ð Oslen is a specialist with regard to reaching the high tones with the trumpet like almost nobody else. This makes him very unique in his play. His power is pushing you from your seat.

ð The name *ORO* NEGRO has been chosen as it stands for BLACK GOLD. By selecting this title Oslen wants to express how important the music is for him.

ð The songs from *ORO* NEGRO are own compositions by Oslen and he describes his style as follows:

ð “…with *ORO* NEGRO I want to play music which makes the people feel good. They can listen or dance whatever they prefer but my wish is for them to have an unforgettable evening spent with my band. We are playing SALSA & TIMBA. My songs are my way to communicate with the audience and I am influenced by Latin Jazz, Latin Pop Music, Reggeton, Changui, Songo and many more. Travelling around the world as a musician has enabled me to encounter different styles of music and I am “cooking” them with my special spices to our *ORO* NEGRO SALSA.

ð Oslen Ceballo Brian also performed with the extraordinary Ibrahim Ferrer, recorded with him and Omara Portuondo and joined bands like LOS VAN VAN; PEDRITO CALVO Y SU NUEVA JUSTICIA; ANGEL BONNE; CHARANGA HABANERA and many more as special guest.

ð Oslen Ceballo Brian y su ORQUESTA *ORO* NEGRO is a 9-12 member Latin music band, the members of which are located in Europe and are coming from not less than 5 different countries: Cuba, Columbia, Venezuela, Peru and Germany. The band will show that it is also possible to perform great Cuban music even though not all of the members are Cuban!
