Paolo Profeti
He performed for several years in the Civica Jazz Band directed by Enrico Intra. He has collaborated with the Time Percussion, a project of Tony Arco, and the Contemporary Ensemble directed by Giovanni Falzone. With Camilla Battaglia’s To Book A Rest Quintet he arrived as a finalist in the Barga Jazz Competition 2012. He composed the movie soundtrack for Primary Needs by Argentinian director Gabriel Pujia.
For several years, he has been the first alto in the Artchipel Orchestra, which has won the prestigious award “Best Italian band of the year” of “TOP JAZZ 2012” held by the Music Jazz magazine. With Artchipel Orchestra he recorded two albums, ”Never Odd Or Even” (2012) and “Artchipel Plays Soft Machine” (2014). He has also played with Mamud Band, one of the most important Italian afro-funk ensembles, whose album “Afro Future Funk” came out in 2013.
Well inserted in the Romanian Jazz scene, Paolo is part of the Bucharest Jazz Orchestra (“BJO”), lead by trumpet player Sebastian Burneci, which played in the Bucharest Jazz Festival 2014. BJO have recently launched their album “Povesti din Bucuresti” (Fiver House Records, 2015). Paolo is also playing with the Romanian Big Band Radio, directed by Ionel Tudor. Furthermore, he has collaborated and is collaborating with prominent jazz musicians such as Mihai Iordache, George Natsis, Vlad Popescu, Sorin Romanescu, Nicolas Simion, Mircea Tiberian, as well as with pop singer Loredana Groza.
In November 2015, the Paolo Profeti European Collective will release the album “Waiting for Bucharest” (also at Fiver House Records).
