Paul Raymond Jones

A recent graduate of Manhattan School of Music's Masters program in Jazz Performance Paul Jones is busy making his way in the New York City music scene. He can be seen performing at The Rose Theater at Lincoln Center, The Cornelia Street Café, Café Vivaldi, ShapeShifter Lab, The Bar Next Door, St. Peter's Church, The Highline Ballroom, Rockwood Music Hall Stage, Cameo, and various other NYC stages. While at Manhattan School of Music he shared the stage with Joe Lovano, David Leibman, and Randy Brecker. He has recently recorded with Nicky Schrire for her album Freedom Flight, with the Uptown PartyDown for their official EP and Live At Rockwood, Mr. Breakdown for their album Shake Daddy Jupiter, The Leon Boykins Trio, Matt Davis' Aerial Photograph City of New York 2013, Yuki Shibata Quartet, Ryan Kuhn's album Circle, The Jack Moves, Martin Terens Trio, Adam Lasher Band, The Brett Ferguson Band, and Sebastian Kole of Motown Records.

Mr. Jones was a full scholarship recipient for Amsterdam Conservatory’s Keep an Eye on Jazz summer program. He also performed recently with St. Lucia who is signed to Columbia Records. Before moving to New York, Paul received his bachelor’s degree from Berklee College of Music where he was a scholarship recipient. He also toured and recorded with Eli “Paperboy” Reed and the Trueloves (Capitol Records). With Eli and the Trueloves he performed at SXSW, Lollapalooza, CMJ, thirty-five US states, three provinces in Canada, and five countries in Europe. He currently maintains an active teaching studio for students of all ages in the NYC area and will be releasing his debut album in the summer of 2014.

Saxophonist Paul Jones clearly brings a literary bent to his music. This, his debut album, is built largely around original material that takes inspiration from great written works like Jack Kerouac's On The Road (Viking Press, 1957), Charles Bukowski's Women (Black Sparrow Press, 1978), and Bill Bryson's A Short History Of Nearly Everything (Broadway Books, 2003).
