Peter Campbell

With a voice described as "soaring" and "supernal," Peter Campbell has been performing for over thirty years. From cabaret appearances with fellow young performers from the worlds of theater, film and television, Peter went on to work in commercial jingles and to cabaret performances from New York to New England and the Midwest. He has performed throughout Toronto and the GTA since relocating to Canada from his native New York City in 2012. His work has been broadcast on radio stations in Canada, the U.S. and internationally, including CBC, JAZZ91.FM and NPR.

Peter's 2017 release "Loving You: Celebrating Shirley Horn" has received critical acclaim both in Canada and internationally. The album garnered inclusion on several lists of the top jazz recordings of 2017 and was nominated for a 2018 Independent Music Award.

2020 commenced with the release of "Old Flames Never Die," Peter's contemporary take on the traditional jazz/cabaret torch album. The recording was released to stellar reviews and received an "Editor's Feature" in the June 2020 issue of JazzTimes magazine. In January 2021, "Old Flames Never Die" was ranked No. 29 on the JazzTimes Critics List of "Top 40 Jazz Releases of 2020." It is both the only recording produced in Canada as well as only one of two vocal recordings to be recognized by this prestigious publication.

Over the course of three studio releases, Peter has enjoyed a creative musical relationship with GRAMMY® and JUNO® Award winning recording engineer John "Beetle" Bailey. Sessions began in February 2022 for a new album scheduled for release in 2023.

Peter holds a B.A. in Art History from McGill University, Montreal, Canada and an M.A. in the History of Design and Curatorial Studies from Parsons The New School for Design and Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum. He studied voice for many years with the late Joyce McLean of the Juilliard School.
