Peter Cobb

Saxophonist Peter Cobb grew up outside of Boston and had the privilege of studying with some of the greatest musicians in the world, including Antonio Hart, John LaPorta, Jerry Bergonzi and Bob Sinicrope. Most significantly, he spent 5 years under the tutelage of the legendary Joe Viola of Berklee College of Music. Peter later attended Berklee from 1995-1996.

Peter then took a brief hiatus from jazz to pursue a career in public interest and international law, working in Switzerland and later attending the University of Pennsylvania Law School before serving as an attorney for several years after that. However, the pull of jazz proved too strong and he returned to a full-time career in jazz in late 2007. After performing and teaching regularly in the Philadelphia area (and recording several albums with guitarist Steve Giordano), Peter moved to New York City where he continues to take classes at NYU’s jazz program (studying with Kenny Werner, Ralph Lalama, Brian Lynch among others), and works as a freelance performer and teacher. And despite the zip code, he is still a Red Sox fan…

Meet Peter Cobb:Saxophonist Peter Cobb hails from Boston, and grew up studying with the likes of Joe Viola and Jerry Bergonzi, and later went to Berklee on a saxophone scholarship. After taking a brief detour to attend UPenn Law School and practicing as an attorney in Philadelphia for a few years, Peter moved to New York City to return to a full-time career as a jazz musician, performer, teacher and writer.
