Phishbacher

Phishbacher have set out to re-invent the piano trio. Influenced by Herbie Hancock, EST and Michel Camilo, they have merged the ethereal with the groove, brain with guts, and spirit with virtuosity. The versatile pianist, keyboardist & bandleader Walter Fischbacher can best be described as the groove master of keys; Having mastered both pianistic technique and the art of the backbeat he has set out to conquer the world with his trio.

Originally from Austria, Fischbacher relocated to New York in 1994. Since then, his performance and recording credits have grown to include internationally acclaimed musicians such as Randy Brecker, George Garzone, Ingrid Jensen, Wolfgang Muthspiel, Vienna Art Orchestra, Tim Lefebvre, Billy Harper, etc.

In his recording studio, Lofish Productions Inc, which he co-owns with vocalist Elisabeth Lohninger, Walter Fischbacher works as a producer and Mastering engineer. Over the years he has issued 6 albums under his own name, all of which he also produced. His 2005 release, "Infinity Ltd." (Lofish Music) has been hailed by European and American press as "exciting" and "surprising".

Walter's busy touring schedule takes him to Europe several times a year, while he continues to work as a side man and band leader in the jazz club scene in New York. His new CD, which features Bill Evans' drummer Joel Rosenblatt and German trumpet export Thomas Siffling, is scheduled for release in the spring of 2009.
