Born: July, 1979

'Shanghai' is the brilliant debut from London-born jazz pianist, Richard Luck.

Richard studied at Goldsmiths' College, University of London. During this time he immersed himself in all aspects of piano playing, and whilst performing with the University Big Band, chose the jazz and popular music route. He graduated with a BMus in 2001.

Developing this he soon began a Post Graduate Diploma in Jazz Performance at Trinity College of Music, London under the instruction of Martin Speake, Anita Wardell, Malcolm Creese, Pete Saberton and Nick Weldon. He began performing with many ensembles including Trinity College Big Band and the National Youth Jazz Orchestra (NYJO). It was at Trinity College he formed what is now his working trio. However, whilst the music was right, Trinity was not - and Richard left early....
