Susan Tedeschi: Wait For Me

Read "Wait For Me" reviewed by Charlie B. Dahan

Listeners who preferred the rawer, rougher edge of Susan Tedeschi’s last release, Just Won’t Burn, might not enjoy her new record, but don't give up on her so fast. True, with success comes a new light shined on your work that demands you equal something you didn’t imagine would happen in the first place. Then again, Tedeschi’s approach on Wait For Me is the right one. Tedeschi doesn’t try and emulate verbatim the sound and feel of Just Won’t Burn, ...

Susan Tedeschi: Just Won't Burn

Read "Just Won't Burn" reviewed by Ed Kopp

If you think white people can't sing the blues, you haven't heard 28-year-old Boston native Susan Tedeschi. Tedeschi is an immensely talented vocalist who's often compared to Janis Joplin and Bonnie Raitt, and rightfully so. Her singing is emotionally charged and very engaging on this major label debut.

It doesn't hurt that Tedeschi plays a mean guitar or that her band is a crack bunch, especially when 18-year-old guitar prodigy Sean Costello steps to the fore. Just Won't Burn is ...

Susan Tedeschi Says Sprawling Tedeschi Trucks Band Owes Much to Joe Cocker's 'Mad Dogs and Englishmen'

Susan Tedeschi Says Sprawling Tedeschi Trucks Band Owes Much to Joe Cocker's 'Mad Dogs and Englishmen'

Source: Something Else!

There is, of course, an obvious comparison for the newly formed Tedeschi Trucks Band—yeah, we made it too—in the 1970s-era husband-and-wife tours led by Delaney and Bonnie Bramlett. Susan Tedeschi, however, says their group's main inspiration goes further back. All the way back to the traveling caravan of grease-popping soul and eye-popping excess that was Joe Cocker's late-1960s jaunts with Leon Russell, Rita Coolidge, members of Derek and the Dominoes, Jim Keltner, Bobby Keys and others—mythical, then as now, for ...

They used to call the late funk legend James Brown the hardest working man in showbiz. Look out because trombonist Saunders Sermons is starting to vie for that title. Currently on tour with the blues' greatest husband-and-wife team Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi, Sermons knows life on the road like his ABCs. In his young life Sermons has already performed with legendary acts like hip-hop kingpins Jay-Z, 50 Cent, and Diddy; soul diva Mary J. Blige; Grammy-winning trumpeter Roy Hargrove; ...

Susan Tedeschi & Derek Trucks Announce Tour Dates with New Band

Source: Chris M. Slawecki

Revelator (Sony MASTERWORKS), the long-awaited, song-oriented debut album by the husband-wife team of singer/guitarist Susan Tedeschi and guitarist Derek Trucks, will be released June 7th. Filled with smoky, blues-dipped rockers and heart-stilling ballads that show off, respectively, the gutsier and softer side of Tedeschi's vocal ability, plus a series of emotive, story-telling solos shaped by Trucks's uncanny agility on slide-guitar, Revelator also serves to introduce the couple's new, 11-piece ensemble: TEDESCHI TRUCKS BAND. A dramatic leap forward for two of ...

Susan Tedeschi:Back to the River

Susan Tedeschi:Back to the River

Source: JamBase

By: Bill Clifford

Back To The River (Verve Forecast) marks a creative high point in Susan Tedeschi's career. It's the first CD of new music she's released since 2002, and Tedeschi wrote or co-wrote all but one of the eleven songs, the most songs she's had a hand in writing on any of her releases.

The driving rocker “Talking About" opens the disc, with aggressive electric guitar turned in by guest Doyle Bramhall II, matched in intensity by Tedeschi's growling ...
