Vin Scialla, drummer, bandleader, and artist has traveled the world performing music. Vin balances a career as drummer, composer, and educator in New York City. US Department of Defense entertainment tours have taken him to the Caribbean, the Middle East, Asia and Egypt. Scialla is best known for his innovative fusion of Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, Indian and American musical traditions. He records and regularly tours with Indian mandolin virtuoso Snehasish Mozumder, and Mission: on Mars w/Neel Murgai. He also co-leads a writing and recording band with saxophonist Eric Schugren and Brian Charette. In addition, he has performed with Valery Ponomarev, Francois Moutin, JD Allen, Abraham Burton, Fabio Morgera, Vernon Reid, Eric Revis, Mike DiRubbo, John T. La Barbera, Arnie Lang, Alessandra Belloni, Tania Leon, Melvin Gibbs, Kenny Wollesen’s Himalayas, to name a few. Scialla’s recording history includes tracks for producers Miles Copeland, FS, and Rick Rubin and albums for Scialla/Schugren/Charette, Mission: on Mars (Liftoff Records) and Snehasish Mozumder (Random Chance Records). Scialla holds a B.M. from Hartt School of Music, received his Masters at the Conservatory at Brooklyn College, and is currently pursuing his Doctoral degree.
