Album Description
Feast on five original songs that are a fresh new blend of Jazz & Adult-Contemporary Pop. "The lyrics are honest and spectacular," including Words Last - for a friend in hospice care and Never Too Late - written for a 79-year old bachelor and his bride. “View From Here,” EP puts Marti Mendenhall in the spotlight as Producer, Songwriter and Singer. Marti artfully combines her training in Jazz, Scat and classical piano with a new and fresh take in the world of Jazz. These five songs are a unique blend of both Jazz and Pop. Each song features lyrics deep with meaning and especially moving. “Words Last” was written for a friend while she was in hospice care, and “Never Too Late,” written for a 79 year-old bachelor and his bride. The overall theme of the new album, “View From Here” is perspective. It explores the exhilaration of love, happiness and hope, and equally the depths of loss on the track called Rain. Each song highlights Marti’s musical depth, her soaring, crystal- clear soprano voice and lyrics sung with the passion and vibrant feeling of life. She is backed by Todd Strait on drums and percussion (Karrin Allyson, Mike Metheny), Dave Captein on bass (Tom Grant, Nu Shooz), and Dustin Hunley on keys, and Bethany Small and Erin Ibarra on backup vocals.
