The work represents my personal vision of contemporary Venezuelan jazz produced in New York City, and I am honored to present it along with an extraordinary cast of world-class musicians." ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Fran Vielma’s album “Tendencias” is the debut of his Venezuelan Jazz Collective, an innovative jazz ensemble that comprises an outstanding cast of world-class musicians. Their awareness of the jazz tradition, concert music, and an upbringing surrounded by the Caribbean and South American genres allow these performers to go from one idiom to the other with masterful spontaneity and musicianship. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The Jazz Collective features one of the strongest Venezuelan rhythmic sections ever gathered. Luis Perdomo, internationally regarded pianist/composer and bandleader based in NYC on piano. On bass, Roberto Koch, a solid contemporary jazz performer and a master of South American music styles based in Europe, and Pablo Bencid on drums, well known in the avant-garde jazz and Latin jazz scene of the east coast of the US.* ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Fran is also supported by a luxurious horn section that includes Michael Rodríguez, composer/bandleader who holds credits with giants like Herbie Hancock and Maria Schneider, on Trumpet. On Alto Saxophone, the internationally regarded and multiaward winner composer/educator Miguel Zenón, and Ángel Subero on Trombone, a Berklee faculty and Boston Pops member with a background in genres like classical, jazz, and Latin.
