Alexandru Anastasiu Alexandru Anastasiu

Music means nothing without the rythm, and this is something Alexandru Anastasiu has learned in his early childhood years, when he began studying piano. Later on he turned to percussion, series of instruments which in time have become a true passion. Hours in front of marimba and vibraphone have led him to be one of the best players in his country. As a percussion player, Alexandru Anastasiu has performed in orchestras, chamber music groups, percussion ensemble GAME and as soloist in concerts which were very much appreciated. Winner of Yamaha Scholarship in 2001 and granted with many prizes during his study years, Alexandru has developed a special love for vibraphone. He has been employed in several professional orchestras ( Giurgiu, National Opera Orchestra from Bucharest, Chamber Radio Orchestra Bucharest) he is now member of the National Radio Orchestra of Bucharest. Together with his coleagues he participated in three editions of the International Festival George Enescu. His training as a professional musician and his capacity of understanding the music were ones of the reasons he was invited to be member of the jury in important competitions ( National Percussion Contest ” Bucharest, 2003, “Mihail Jora” National Competition ” Bucharest, 2001). Alexandru Anastasiu has also worked as assistant teacher at the Music University of Bucharest where he had the opportunity to share his experience and musical thoughts with younger percussion students

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
