Alex Blaine Alex Blaine

Alex Blaine (AKA “Yukon” or “Yukon Jack”) is a New Orleans based tenor saxophonist. Born and raised in New Jersey, a stone’s throw from New York City, he began saxophone at age 7 and was marching in parades with high school bands by age 10. Being the son of a professional saxophonist and music teacher, Alex was raised with music as a major part of his life.

Blaine recently contributed to an album credited with a 2015 Grammy nomination in the Best Blues Album category (Bobby Rush’s “Decisions”) along with many other fantastic players. Though he’s a newcomer to the New Orleans music scene, he has worked with prominent internationally known individuals such as Dr. John, Allen Toussaint, Rockin’ Dopsie Jr., Bruce “Sunpie” Barnes (known for work with Paul Simon), The Treme Brass Band, as well as other New Orleans staples such as Glen David Andrews and James Andrews (brothers of the famous Trombone Shorty), Irvin Mayfield, John Lisi, and more.

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
