Alinta Chidzey

Alinta and the Jazz Emperors preside over a soulful empire of jazz built on an infectious sense of humour and extended joy-infused improvisation. We’re talking five very fine musicians in a band that is always more than the sum of its parts. Inspired by the likes of Gregory Porter, Esperanza Spalding to the old greats of Coltrane, Ella and Miles The Jazz Emperors bring a contemporary twist engaging audiences on a trip between classic and contemporary.

Alinta Chidzey is a charismatic vocalist/songwriter who is also a firm fixture on Australia's musical stage and television (West Side Story, Hugh Jackman’s - Broadway to Oz, Wentworth on Foxtel). Tenor saxophonist and band leader Remco Keijzer (You am I, Bamboos) has been leading his original bands through Europe, Australia and the US for 15 years, playing an array of jazz, hip hop and nowadays mostly original compositions. Keep an eye out for their debut album ‘I Got You.’

With an exciting range of original songs from their debut album ‘I Got You’ and rearranged standards, Alinta and The Jazz Emperors bring their fiery improvisations and infectious grooves to their audiences. The Jazz Emperors' rule is rounded out with the superb Sam Keevers on piano (Vince Jones, John Schofield), and rhythm section starring Marty Holoubek on Double Bass (James Morrison, Kate Ceberano) and Darryn Farrugia on drums (Tom Jones, B.B King). But a warning: One night with the Emperors is guaranteed to make you a loyal subject!
