Al-Jiçç

Band created in 2007 by Gonçalo Lopes on clarinet-bass and Nuno Damião on trumpet with the purpose of creating and improvising melodies within the diversity of scales and rhythms of Mediterranean music. Initially Al- jiçç collaborated with several percussionists in rehearsals and performances and in 2011, with bassist Francisco Artur and drummer Vitor Costa, was recorded the first cd 'Mostar', named after the Bosnia-Hezergovina city. Mostar ' was well received by critics (Time Out, Jornal de Letras, radio Antena 2) and was promoted at festivals such as Andanças, Avante, Junta-te ao Jazz and at several venues in Lisbon as the MusicBox, Bacalhoeiro and Cafe Tati.

In 2013, Nuno Damião wrote a set of songs inspired by the novel 'Snow ' by Orhan Pamuk, which resulted in the CD ‘Estórias de Kars’. This CD was recorded in Portalegre in João P. Miranda ‘studios, with the collaboration of clarinetist Gonçalo Lopes and bassist Ricardo A. Freitas.
