Album Description

The program begins with the bossa-nova flavored "All About The Music," a heartfelt tribute to Joel Scott's musical talents and his love for music. "A Seed in the Wind" is a picturesque love story with a strong flamenco feel, prominent guitar, and trumpet playing that adds to the flavor. "Pêche Melba" is a real change-of-pace, a humorous and saucy number filled with double-entendres that mixes New Orleans jazz with 1920s cabaret music. "Swing It Like Ella" is a swinging tribute not only to Ella Fitzgerald but to such great female vocalists as Sarah Vaughan, Peggy Lee, Anita O'Day and Billie Holiday. The mature love ballad "Sweeter With Time" has a universal appeal. The memorable program closes with a second instrumental version of "All About the Music" that puts the focus on Nolan Kat-Daddy Shaheed's warm flugelhorn playing.

All About Jazz needs your support

Donate
All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
