Album Description

Improvised. Live-processed. Electro acoustic. Saxophone. Granular synthesizer. Drums. Ekspressive. Ambient. Living. Beautiful. Released on vinyl and streaming the 9. of March at label Forlaget Kornmod. All vinyls have unique handmade covers laquered on re-used vinyl-sleeves. The titles of the tracks unfold the poem of the track titles. The music is recorded live at concerts several places in Denmark; Frihavnskirken, Headquarters, Lygten Station, Peryton, RMC and Sofiebadet. Three musical siblings, united as Køs, share their love for the passionate and the fragile, in a search for intense new landscapes of sound. The last few years the young trio has attracted a lot of attention from the Danish music scene for their very personal sound, where free improvisation is the core. In an electro acoustic universe, the saxophone and drums are twisted, mixed and manipulated, to melt together, distinguish or create completely new unexpected sounds. Sometimes the music reminds you of a pop hit – sometimes it is associated to electronic ambient music – or a carpet of 40 saxophones. They have played together since 2014 and are each known from other bands such as Merdh Laleh, Caktus, Josiah Konder and Slår Skår. As a trio they have worked together with the saxophonists Lotte Anker and Lars Greve as well as poet Pia Tafdrup. Køs creates music with long-stretched developments, beautiful melodies, repetitive rhythmic structures, broad soundscapes and great dynamic changes. Music where the journey becomes what is interesting, and presence and energy is what matters.
