Andrew Read
In 1993 Andrew moved to the Netherlands to further his studies in classical double bass at the Conservatorium in Enschede and later with Hans Roelofsen at the Conservatorium in Arnhem. Within a short period after moving to the Netherlands Andrew became established in both the jazz and classical worlds. The daily paper "Tubantia" stated recently that "...since moving to the Netherlands Andrew has become a unmissable link in the Netherlands music world....".
During his career Andrew has worked as a sideman with international touring artists including among others Phil Woods, Elvis Costello, Toni Braxton, Roland Gift (ex Fine Young Cannibals), and Milt Jackson. 1998 saw the release of his first CD as a leader, "The Andrew Read Trio - Live in de Tor" this was followed in 2000 by " The Andrew Read Trio - A.2.B" and in 2004 - Winter of my Dreams (featuring vocalist Lils Macintosh). In 2010 the Andrew Read trio signed a new recording contract with the Dutch lable Aliud Records, The first release under this new contract is due for release in October 2010.
In addition to the Andrew Read Trio, Andrew has performed both live and on CD with various other well known Dutch and German jazz artists.
As well as his involvement in the jazz scene Andrew is also active in the classical world where he is the founder of the early music Orchestra, "Il Concerto Barocco". and member of the chamber music group "Het Lansink Ensemble"

Meet Andrew Read: I studied double-bass at the Victorian college of the Arts in Melbourne, Australia.
