Angela T. Clark
Her musical introduction began early under the influence of her parents love of jazz. She credits her style to a mixture of Ella Fitzgerald, Nancy Wilson, Nina Simone, Billie Holiday and Lena Horne. Her education into the intricacies of jazz styling was honed under the direction of Dr. Alvin Fulton and the South Carolina State University Jazz Ensemble and had the unique introduction to Jazz greats like Frank Foster, Jimmy Heath, Oscar Peterson and Carmen McRae. The first African American woman to hold the titles of Miss North Charleston, SC Queen of Roses and Miss Orangeburg County in the Miss South Carolina/America Scholarship Organization, she has performed in 76 countries and all 50 states as a singer, dancer and actress working as a performer in the cruise line industry since 1995.
Currently living in Greenville, South Carolina, Angela was the Featured Headline Entertainer in “Stars”, an exclusive supper club with the six star luxury Silver Sea Cruise Lines on board the Silver Spirit. Her first live recording ‘Unfolding” featuring Alan Lee on piano was released worldwide on November 1, 2011 and is available on iTunes, Facebook and CD Baby websites. Angela sings the blues.
How we never made it to the ship’s jazz nightclub Stars up to this point completely baffles me. We joined friends for a post dinner listen to the silvery vocals of singer Angela Clark and the bluesy tinkling of pianist Michelle Yap Wei Mien until the clock struck twelve.
