Ari Folman-Cohen

An Electric and Upright bassist who dabbles in Synthisizers and Pennywhistle Ari performs in New York City and around the world. Equally at ease in Pop and Rock worlds, Ari tends towards experimental projects as well as many Jazz and World Music collabarations. His solo project navigates the improvisational and textural world of pedals and looping devices, mixing compostion and spur of the moment improvisation into dreamy trance inducing soundscapes or terse disturbing cacophony between ear catching melody.

Ari is an eclectic and open minded musician and his reptoire and stylistic approach fuse the varied expierences he finds himself in. As bass player for Grammy award winning guitarist Stephane Wrembel he holds down exciting and sturdy Gypsy Jazz bass lines. In Avante Punk Mambo group Gato Loco he thrashes melodically on the electric bass. When playing with his ska and rocksteady project Pangari and The Socilaites he supplies the melodic foundations. In addtion to musical pursuits he works on his own film creation, as well as forays into short stories, cartoons and script writing.
