Art Bailey

Pianist, accordionist, producer, composer and arranger Art Bailey is a busy guy, maintaining a packed calendar with dates playing improvised music, Latin jazz and traditional Cuban music, and new classical music.

His current projects include his piano trio with bassist Michael Bates and drummer Owen Howard and their recently released debut album “Quiet as a Bone” on HRL Records, and an avant-chamber group, “Rare as Radium” with violinist Sam Bardfeld, bassoonist Sara Schoenbeck, and saxophonist Catherine Sikora.

Since Art’s arrival in NYC, some of the many fine and stellar musicans he has had the pleasure to record or perform with include Steve Swell, Ratzo Harris, Ziv Ravitz, Garth Stevenson, Kirk Knuffke, Bryan Drye, Herb Robertson, Mike Pride, Marty Ehrlich, Dave Valentin, Guy Klusevcek, Karl Berger, Michael Bisio, Stephen Gauci, Whit Dickey, Alfredo (Chocolate) Armenteros, Slavic Soul Party, Flexible Orchestra, the Atlanta Symphony, Brad Shepik, Andy Stein, Andy Statman, Andy Gonzales, Chris Washburne, Sam Bardfeld, David Krakauer, Frank London, and the Grammy award winning Klezmatics. He has been a sideman with trumpeter Steve Gluzband’s “Hot House”, a Latin jazz group, since its inception in 2008.

This year also marks Art’s debut as a producer for vocalist Wren Marie Harrington’s soon to be released “Light Travels”, on which he was also a performer and arranger.

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded albums and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, limited reopenings and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary step that will help musicians and venues now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the sticky footer ad). Thank you!
