Arunava Chatterjee Arunava Chatterjee

Indian pianist Arunava Chatterjee AKA sonai is a well trained Jazz pianist. He started his musical journey by learning TABLA at the age of 5. At the age of 12, he started taking Piano classes from his father,is also a renowned keyboard player of the town. He also learnt bass guitar and worked with many famous musicians and bands.

In 1995 he was selected in a program called “CALLING ALL CHILDREN”, a special program for junior artists in All India Radio and performed till 1999.

He started taking an exclusive jazz theory classes form a leading musician of Calcutta in the year 2001.

2002, he first joined a band and started performing in and out of town.

As there was no such jazz course available in Calcutta he had to take lessons from the jazz musicians of the town. In 2004 he started taking class from a jazz pianist.

In that same year, 2004 he had got an offer to join the most famous hotel in Calcutta, Oberoi Grand Hotel as a lobby pianist.

He started arranging and programming songs for movies and albums.

In 2005, he joined one of the leading bands of the town and performed almost all the mega-cities around the country.

2006, he joined an authentic latin jazz band in a pub of the Park Hotel. Traveled lots of places around the country and also took part in a biggest festival of north bengal Darjeeling Carnival.

In 2007, he joined a funk jazz band in a five star hotel. 2008 he joined Oberoi Grand hotel again, but this time he joined as an accompanist of the most famous, one and only authentic bebop jazz guitar player of India, Mr.Carlton Kitto.
