Matt Richards - solo acoustic guitar

Album Description

Over the course of about three years Matt spent time his own studio and recording and producing this all-solo guitar album. Balance includes new original compositions as well as new performances of some of his regular repertoire. "The idea was to capture what I did in a live solo concert in the studio without the hassles of live recording," Matt explains. "The only exception is my live version of Lennon and McCartney's 'All My Loving' from a televised performance, which I thought came off well and sounded very good." Throughout the recording process Matt had the support of his musical mentor and friend, guitarist Larry Coryell. In fact, after hearing several tracks, the guitar legend encouraged Matt to release the album right away. That was one week before his death. Matt went back in the studio and recorded "A Blues For Larry" which provides a fitting close to the album.

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
