Barry Mosley

Mosley's first Jazz influence at age twelve was listening to a Chet Baker recording. Many years later was invited by Chet to sit in with him several times in the mid 1980's, which was a great musical thrill. Other strong influences include valve trombonist Bob Brookmeyer who inspired him to play valve trombone, and the early works of Miles Davis.

His Cool Jazz Trio and sometimes Quartet have performed at many of the best Jazz clubs in Los Angeles including Spazio's, The Hip Kitty, Jax Bar & Grill, Vitello's, The Left Coast Wine Bar and more. We have also preformed for many private parties and events in the Los Angeles area.

Currently both CD's Jazz Time and Speak Softly have received repeated radio air play in the USA and Europe, and we have had thousands of youtube hits from our Los Angeles performances. The focus is on tasteful melodic playing, influenced by the Cool West Coast sound that has been his inspiration.

Barry Mosley began trombone and piano studies at the age of 12. By 16 he was orchestrating and composing for big bands and orchestras in Toronto, Canada. His formal college studies included De Anza College in Cupertino California under the direction of Herb Patnoe.

Mosley a registered film composer with ASCAP, moved to Los Angeles in 1989 and began writing film scores. Over the past 10 years his film compositions have appeared in movie theaters across North America, Europe, Asia, as well as H.B.O. television. Other clients include: I.O.U. Productions, Movie House, Sony, Mark Turner, Goblin Craft, and Brentertic Productions.
