Beata Hlavenkova

The most sought after pianist, arranger and composer of the Czech jazz scene Beata Hlavenkova (born 1978) graduated at Janacek Conservatory in Ostrava as the classical music composer in 1992-1998. In 2001-4 she continued her music studies at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, USA and Betty Carter Jazz Ahead residential program for young composers and performers in Kennedy Center, Washington D. C.

In contemporary she has been active as a leader of Beata Hlavenkova Trio (2005 ” till today) performing her original compositions together with the most renowned musicians of Czech jazz scene, the drummers Pavel Bady Zboril, Jiri Slavicek, Roman Vicha, and the bassists Rasto Uhrik or Tomas Liska. The Trio (with R. Uhrik and R. Vicha) won the award “Jazz Junior 2005“ as the ensemble of the year plus the Best Composition and Best Music Arrangement awards of the year.
