Billy Harris Billy Harris

Bill Harris is a drummer, composer, improviser, and audio engineer from Pittsburgh currently located in Chicago. Starting private drum and percussion studies at age eight, Bill embarked on a lifelong journey of musical education that continues to this day. Playing in various rock, funk, and jazz groups at clubs and concert venues throughout his early years, he eventually relocated to Chicago. In 2014, he started the trio Four Letter Words, with pianist Matt Piet and saxophonist Jake Wark, who play primarily original compositions centered around group improvisation. In 2014, they release their first EP, Blow. He is also a member of the group Bowlcut with guitarist Matt Murphy and saxophonist Jake Wark, who explore free improvisation while combining electronic and acoustic sounds. Bill also works as an audio engineer in the Chicago area.

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
