Blue Fiasco

Blue Fiasco jazz quintetHearing Blue Fiasco live is a unique experience. The group has played a fresh approach to jazz since 2019: Classic rock hits arranged for a jazz quintet, along with their own arrangements of jazz standards.

With Blue Fiasco you'll hear hits from the ’60s, ’70s, ’80s and ’90s reimagined as jazz. Songs from The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder and more, as you’ve ever heard before.

Blue Fiasco members have been playing for over five decades each: George Cyphers (saxophones), Jon Hedges (guitar), Andy Kenen (drums), Julie McCreary (keyboards) and Jon Densmore (bass).

The group is based in Ohio but reaches fans around the world on their YouTube channel. Their montage of Pink Floyd hits ("Money," "Us and Them," "Another Brick In The Wall") has over 14,000 views. Another video of the classic "Harlem Nocturne," from the 1940s but revived in the 80s for the Mike Hammer TV detective series and used on the Prairie Home Companion, has nearly 8,000 views.

A glance at the song list of the group's jazz arrangements shows they're clearly inspired by classic rock: the aforementioned Pink Floyd hits; "Can’t Buy Me Love," "Michelle," "Norwegian Wood," "Something" and "She's Leaving Home" (The Beatles); "Roxanne" and "Every Breath You Take" (The Police); "Don’t Know Why" (Nora Jones); "Don’t Worry ’Bout A Thing" and "Higher Ground" (Stevie Wonder); "Just The Way You Are" and "New York State of Mind" (Billy Joel).

Recently the band was picked as the host band and opening act for the annual Defiance Jazz Festival in Defiance, Ohio in July, 2023.
