Brent Baxter Barrett

Brent Baxter Barrett grew up in a small town called Davison, near Flint, Michigan and received his Bachelor Of Fine Arts Degree in Jazz Guitar Performance and Technical Theatre from Central Michigan University in 1984. He has traveled the world many times over since then with his music including a number of years in Europe and Hong Kong. While in Europe he performed with his own "Brent Baxter Barrett Group" performing his original Jazz compositions and continues to do so today. He has been called a "guitarists guitarist" by Der Scene Magazine in Hamburg, Germany for his recording "Live Aus Hamburg" and has received much critical acclaim for this work thru the years. In Hong Kong Brent performed with Asian Pop superstar Leslie Cheung and can be heard on his "Love Fire" album. In addition to this work with Leslie he also performed with The Hong Kong Philharmonic on a number of jingles for Hong Kong and British television and performed and recorded with African/Reggae Supergroup "Afrozilia". In the States Brent has worked with such notable artists as Bob Hope,The Saginaw Symphony Orchestra, toured with the Reggae band "Satta" in support of their album "Light Of The World", and has performed and recorded with Motown Recording Artist and multiple Grammy Award winning Soul Singer India.Arie. Brent can be heard on India's multi-platinum award winning recordings "Acoustic Soul" and "Voyage To India" (2003 Grammy Award for Best R&B Album). He has also performed with fellow Detroit Country/Rocker and Nashville composer Blue Miller,recorded "If Trouble Was Money" with Detroit Blues Legend Louis "Mr. Bo" Collins as well as performing regularly with "Mr. Bo" until his untimely death in 1995. "If Trouble Was Money" was the last recording that "Mr.Bo" ever did and he died before the mastering was done and never got to hear the finished product. Brent currently lives in Richmond, Virginia where he is an in demand session and performing artist, producer, and composer. He produced and composed the NMW Awards "Breakthrough Country Artist Of The Year" album Keyna "Zero To Ten" in 2006. Along with his ongoing performances with his own group he currently composes and performs with the east coasts premier Soul/R&B group Rhythm Bone. Brent does clinics and training for a number of music manufacturers as well as teaching privately in his home studio, and is an endorser and sponsor for Koch Amplifiers, Evidence Audio, GHS Strings, Graph Tech Guitar Labs, Tradition Guitars, Eastwood Guitars, Ruby Tubes, Axsak Guitar Jackets, and Unity Handmade Archtop Guitars.
