Candace Marie DeClue

Whether singing through the changes of the most arcane jazz tunes, or hanging sweet harmony notes in pop/rock outfits, the light always shines just right on the carefully crafted yet authentic and grounded vocals of Candy DeClue.

From a young age the singer's voice earned her audience and even an acceptance letter from Berklee College of Music, which DeClue would respectfully declined in favor of the burgeoning music scene in Austin, Texas. Her vintage vocals pairs well with the modern sensibility and a frankness that puts you face to face with the music. This has won her spots in top Jazz Combos and Big Bands affiliated with Texas State University. Her resume also includes impressive collaborations with San Antonio favorites: The Front Row Joes, The Midtown Jazz Sound, and DVjazz.

While DeClue masterfully accents the sound of these and other acts, it is the singer, fronting her own combo configurations (Art and Candy Quartet, Candy DeClue Quintet, etc...) that strikes a mood; high in tonal contrasts and saturated in emotion. It is accented by her captivating presence on stage and her ability to lead her own small groups and ensembles. Her current project includes the Jazz quartet 'Art and Candy', they can be seen around town playing such venues as The Elephant Room, Brass House, Parish Underground, and the Firehouse Lounge.
