Candice

No gimmicks. No slick packaging. Bay Area-based singer, Candice is the real deal! Grand Prize winner of the Second Invitational Musicians Showcase, held at Club Jazz Nouveau, this lady from Philly has made an impression on the Bay Area with appearances at venues in the city of San Francisco proper (Ana Mandara, Shanghai 1930, The Moscone Center, The Dogpatch Saloon, Octavia Lounge, Figaro, Savanna Jazz, Rassela's) to the Penninsula (Domenico Winery, Central Park Bistro, Piacere, Sharon Heights Country Club, Micha's, Towles Cafe, Cafe Fino, Cetrella, Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay, Palo Alto Elks) and beyond. She's performed on the National Liberty Ship, S.S. Jeremiah O'Brien and received rave reviews for her performance at Mecca Restaurant (June 2004) as Catholic Charities held its first Martinis & Jazz fundraiser in support of its HIV/AIDS Services.

She has a voice seasoned with sensitivity and experience and, whether singing a sentimental ballad or putting the "S" in swing, whether in a small club or large auditorum, you feel as though she were singing to you alone. Her phrasing, timing and endearing ability to connect with her audience has garnered a loyal fan base; with each performance she wins new fans. Candice is as comfortable singing in an intimate setting with only piano accompaniment as she is performing with a trio or larger ensemble. Her repertoire includes popular standards from the American Songbook as well as unfamiliar gems and novelty tunes and her warm, natural delivery captivates even the casual listener.

Candice had her first paid gig at the age of sixteen, as she began doing country club dates in and around her hometown of Worcester, MA. After moving to Philadelphia's Mainline in the late sixties, she put her singing career on the back burner and raised a family. Over the years, however, she found time to sing in gospel choirs as well as rock, pop and R&B bands. As a member of One Voice, a non-profit group of vocalists from the Greater Philadelphia area, Candice has performed in and helped produce concerts benefiting various charities (Women Against Abuse; Circle of Care/AIDS Fund for Families; People Interested in People; and many others).

She has performed onstage with Heatwave and Celine Dion and in venues from Madison Square Garden to the Philadelphia Convention Center to Hershey Park on the east coast and Shoreline Amphitheatre on the west. Candice has appeared in the Mellon Jazz festival (Philadelphia), headlined the annual Jazz on the River (Pittsburgh), been featured performer at Philadelphia City Council's Jazz Heritage Series (Malcolm X Memorial Park, Philadelphia), performed for corporate functions and sung in a number of more intimate supper clubs in the Philadelphia area, including the Villa Strafford, the Blue Moon, Lakey's and L2.
