Carolyn Ohlbaum

Carolyn Ohlbaum is a classically trained violinist, but she also does strolling work and she improvises. Carolyn has studied and performed extensively on violin since age 10. Her vast experience includes orchestral work, chamber music ensembles and work as a soloist. She is equally at home in large and small venues like restaurants and cabaret/club type settings. She has performed at Wolf Trap Farm Park, Carnegie Hall and numerous locales. Professional work includes playing the strolling repertoire with the Gene Donati Orchestra and now also for Miles Stiebel and his orchestra. Carolyn has played for receptions, weddings, fundraisers, etc. She has played for opera at Wolf Trap, and she has also played at the Kennedy Center in the orchestra pit with the Opera House Orchestra for musical productions. She has also played at the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the Mayflower Hotel, etc. Carolyn freelances in the MD/DC/VA area and she has also played extensively at various venues in NYC, including Birdland, the Algonquin Hotel, Nino's Tuscany with legendary "lounge" pianist Irving Fields, Don't Tell Mama, Butterfield 8, and elsewhere. She has worked with artists including Diana Ross, Beverly Sills, Anna Moffo, Rudolph Nureyev, David Nadien, and legendary "lounge" pianist Irving Fields. Carolyn is always available for weddings, receptions, concert work, holiday parties, session work, etc. in the MD/DC/VA/NYC areas, etc. Carolyn's standards are consistently of the very highest quality. She is known for her deep, warm musical expressiveness, and she consistently receives compliments on the gorgeous sound she produces from playing her violin. She has delighted many audiences and will add a touch of class and elegance to any occasion or special event. Carolyn is a member of local 161-710 of the AF of M, the Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs, the DC Cabaret Network, and a life member of the Modern Music Masters National Music Honor Society (Tri-M). Carolyn has also played “blues” violin with Michael Donati aka “Montana” at the Cazbar Inn Restaurant in Baltimore, March 2007 and will be doing a “blues” cd recording with Michael Donati.
