Celumusa Selepe

I grew up in Swaziland where I attended primary and High school. I did A'levels at Waterford College and then enrolled at the University of Swaziland to do Bsc, majoring in Maths and Physics. In between my studies I would experiment with drums from time to time. I then moved from Swaziland and came back home in South Africa in 1997. I have been in the art business for the past 15 years. Started off as a drummer in church, and then moved to a school band. I have been rythymic since from childhood, taken from my dad who was a bassist and pianist. I then started dancing and acting. I travelled the USA, EUROPE and local gigs in South Africa. I was also a correspondent Journalist whilst at school with the SWAZI TV. I developed an interest in media. I started in the industry as a production co ordinator. I then moved up to producing short films. At the time of sending this Biography, I am content producer and show producer for local talkshows on TV. I teach drumming to beginners in my neiborhood. I enjoy contemporary Jazz, fusing it with all other musical elements. I am an ear type of musician, which is what I encourage my students to fuse with their theory lessons. I am a soulfull drummer. I look up to all the greats that has ever lived and I would be doing justice to list them hear, but one that is doing it for me at the moment is Harvey Mason of FOURPLAY. Amongst the young guys I am deeply impressed by Steve Harvey who plays with Anthony Hamilton. Locally here in South Africa I am a big fan of BAFANA SUKWENI, who plays with Simphiwe Dana. Personally, I have bumped into the likes of Hugh Masekela, Jonathan Butler and had the chance to jam with them. I am still learning, because I believe that I am as good as my last gig
