Christopher J. Davis, fondly known a Big Dog, was born in Waterbury, Connecticut to musical parents James Sr. and Mary Davis. When Chris was just four years old he had the ability to hear music in a special way. He began his piano studies at age five gripping the origins of black music at the Refuge Church of Christ in his hometown. By age sixteen, Chris recorded his first forty-five gospel where he began fusing gospel, funk, classical and jazz which he has perfected into an eclectic style all his own today.
Chris is a two-time Grammy nominated writer and producer and has 15 Billboard top #1 smooth jazz records since 2008. Chris ‘Big Dog’ Davis has received a Grammy nomination in 2014 for his work with singer/songwriter “Maysa” on her Blue Velvet Soul CD. Chris and co-producer Gerald Albright received a Grammy nomination in 2015 for their CD “Slam Dunk” In the category of “Best Contemporary Instrumental Album.”
Chris currently has his had productions in the top 25 of the Billboard Smooth Jazz Chart in October 2015. Chris has worked with artist such as Grammy nominated Maysa, multi-Grammy nominated Gerald Albright, Will Downing, Phil Perry, Najee, Brian McKnight, Chante' Moore, the late Vesta Williams, gospel giant Kim Burrell, Floacist, Glenn Jones, Miki Howard, Melba Moore, Marion Meadows, George Clinton, Selena Johnson, Avant, Kim Waters, Rick Braun, Alex Bugnon and many more
