Christian Marien
Christian Marien (* 1975, Münster, Germany) studied music in Amsterdam and Berlin where he has resided since 2000. He is an active member of the Berlin jazz and improvised music scene, co-leading collaborative projects including Superimpose (Matthias Müller), I Am Three (Silke Eberhard, Nikolaus Neuser), Insomnia Brass Band (Almut Schlichting, Anke Lucks) and C’mon C’mon (Jasper Stadhouders). In 2022 he starts the „Christian Marien Quartett” (Tobias Delius, Jasper Stadhouders, Antonio Borghini), the first ensemble under his name. Christian recently worked on solo ideas, in 2022 his first Solo CD was released on „MarMade Records” a new label founded by Christian. In addition, he is a regular member of numerous ensembles such as Brom, Dalgoo and Derek plays Eric. He frequently shares the stage with such renowned musicians as Frank Gratkowski, Maggie Nicols, Matthias Schubert, Sofia Jernberg, Achim Kaufmann, Tobias Delius, Theo Jörgensmann, Liz Kosack, Jim Denley, Nate Wooley, Sabir Mateen, Gebhard Ullmann and John Butcher.
