Christian Zünd Christian Zünd

Christian Zünd was born into a very musical family and so became involved in music at a very young age. His brother bought a drum set when Christian was just about four years old and that was when he first tried making some music of his own.The first small step of his music career had been taken. At the age of eight, he then started taking proper music lessons at the local music school and soon he was able to go even further and use what he had learned in the town band. The creation of his own punk band ''PEA'' followed soon after. At this point of time he was only 15 but already very determined to get a start in the music business. Meanwhile, Christian had to do an apprenticeship as well and chose to work as plumber. He successfully completed this in 2002. However, two years later he decided to concentrate on his music career and completed the musical pre-course for university at the WIAM in Winterthur and immediately after, another one in Luzern. After this, he started studying in Luzern and got his Masters in music and performance in 2011. One year after, he also got his Master in Pedagogy at the same school. He studied under Norbert Pfammatter, Gerry Hemingway Dominik Burkhalter, Mark Halbeer, Kasper Rast, Heiri Känzig and Wolfi Zwiauer. Master classes and workshops by Jojo Mayer,Gregory Hutchinson, Billy Hart, Nik Bärtsch and many more also were part of the programme. Today Christian is a musician in different bands and musical formations playing not only in Switzerland but also abroad

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
