Clinton Crawford

Clinton Crawford, Jr., known to friends and peers as "J.R.", was born in Belize, Central America. From an early age he has been a singer and keyboard player, later adding songwriting, producer and arranger to his talents.

While in Belize, J.R. played with the #1 band in the country, playing and performing in all prominent places in his home land. While there, he received numerous awards and recognition. While performing in Mexico City he received a personal invitation from Mexico's President to perform for him. He had also made many TV appearances with the Lord Rhaburn Band while there.

J.R. moved to the United States in 1984 and has greatly expanded his musical talents. He has gained tremendous experience working with performers and bands such as: Ital Roots; Babylon Warriors; Dells and the Sensations; Cross Culture; The Dominators; Sapodilla; Better Rhythm; Judah Starr; Upstream and the Wailing Souls. On the Caribbean scene he has played for noteworthy artists such as: Mighty Sparrow; David Rudder; Denise Plummer, Calypso Rose, Duke, Crazy and Baron to name a few. In 1997 played keyboard on the new Rolling Stones album as well as on the new Vince Charles Christmas CD. He is also called to do engagements with the "Club Trini" band (part of the Jimmy Buffett band).

Please check out his contribution to the great Boogsy Sharpe's (pan-man extrordinaire) new CD "Fresh Air" which he arranged and produced at Kleen Kut Studios in Burbank, California.

J.R. has a wide vocal range which spans soul, pop, R&B, jazz, reggae and calypso. He is currently still pursuing songwriting, arranging, producing and singing.

While performing with Tropical Wave he has played numerous set parties on some of today's leading film and television shows including: Hook, The Bold and the Beautiful, Roc, Evening Shade and Michael Jackson Video Party at in Palm Springs.

Recently he was the musical director/arranger of a concert held at Royce Hall, UCLA, California which featured David Rudder, Calypso Rose, Robert Greenidge and The Mighty Sparrow sponsored by Mr. VanDyke Parks.

He presently has a Caribbean band in the Los Angels area called Pan-A-Cea Steel Drum and Calypso Band http://www.steeldrumband.net/panacea
