Curlee Dinkins

During the fifties Curlee Dinkins, along with Robert Byrd (Bobby Day), David Ford, and Willie Ray Rockwell, formed the original group, "The Hollywood Flames".

The group toured with popular bands and artists like Johnny Otis, the Jeep Smith Band, B.B. King, Johnny Guitar Watson and many more. Riding on the coat tails of The Flames' smash hit, "Little Bitty Pretty One", they appeared on American Bandstand and many of the local television shows throughout the United States.

When the group signed with the ‘Class Records’ label, the Flames received a new name (the Satellites) and Robert Byrd was given a new professional name (Bobby Day). As Bobby Day and the Satellites, the band, including Curlee Dinkins, recorded another smash hit, “Rockin Robin”.

Curlee’s musical journey would take him on to perform with a variety of bands and orchestras, and ultimately as a solo artist, in many cities where he would perform on national television, in theatrical productions, large concert halls and small intimate clubs. In 1997, Curlee Dinkins was inducted into the United in Group Harmony Association (UGHA) Hall of Fame.

Curlee has warmed the hearts of audiences with his sexy, sultry voice and his tunes have crossed the boundaries of the young and old. His unique style and flare yields rave reviews and he is received well by enthusiastic audiences who absolutely adore his performances.

Curlee Dinkins' latest CD, "As Good As It Gets", is a debut of eight soul stirring jazzy/blues tunes. Take time to listen and be moved by the heart felt tones of his warm velvety smooth voice.
