Willing to teach
Beginner to advanced
I strive to help my students progress in the music they enjoy. While I keep them grounded in fundamentals and build a base of technique, my aim helps to identify specific elements of the music they enjoy and how to incorporate those elements into their own musical creation. As a teacher, I encourage my students to ask questions and I hope to give them the tools they need to have the ability to answer those questions.
I graduated from Lawrence University Conservatory of Music in 2010, where I studied with Steven Jordheim and Fred Sturm, among others, gaining a strong background in pedagogy, from classical to jazz. In 2012, I graduated from the University of Oregon with a Masters in Jazz Studies. While at UO, I served as a graduate teaching fellow, instructing undergraduate courses in jazz. I've held a private studio of beginning to advanced saxophone and clarinet students for eight years.
