Dan Nicholas

Guitarist, composer, arranger and lyricist Dan Nicholas grew up in New York City and New Jersey. At the age of 18 he began to study with the world renowned jazz pianist and educator, Dr. Barry Harris. Nicholas was inspired to move to The Netherlands in 2001 after meeting master pianist Frans Elsen, with whom he worked regularly until Elsen's death in 2011. Dan Nicholas is the guitarist and musical director of the group "Marjorie Barnes & Equinox" which features world class jazz vocalist Marjorie Barnes. He is also the leader of "Equinox Jazz Promotions," a netherlands based organization that programs and promotes jazz concerts. EJP has presented the likes of the Peter Bernstein/Larry Goldings Bill Stewart Trio, The Ari Hoenig Quartet, The Gilad Hekselman trio, Dr. Barry Harris, Dave Leibman, Jeremy Pelt, and Now vs. Now with Jason Lindner and Mark Gulianna. Dan Nicholas has worked with such artists as Barry Harris, Grant Stewart, Mike LeDonne, Gary Smulyan, Benjamin Herman, Dado Moroni, Peter Beets, Greg Hutchinson and Gene Jackson.
