Esteve classical guitar, Ibanez “lawsuit model” jazz guitar, cavaquinho, banjo, Gibson SG guitar and
Godin Multiac Grand Concert classical guitar (both equipped with Roland GR-20 Guitar synth),
The fourth act was also a treat, the Dave Ness Trio. This acoustic jazz group features guitar, bass,
and drums/percussion. They play music that is full of interesting nuances and subtle details,
reveling in quiet textures and silences.
This is what Chicago Jazz Magazine had to say about “Sketches” :…there is no denying his
superlative skill on the guitar ...he has created a thoughtful and highly listenable CD…Ness’s
playing is derivative of Grant Green’s mid-career recordings…tasteful flights of improvisation...
