A multi instrumentalist (guitar, bass, keyboards), writer, and vocalist, David Ruther's path to his contemporary jazz sound which he calls slick jazz was forged from years of studio experimentation with various song structures and recording techniques.
Striving to create a sound that could satisfy his tastes in hip jazz infused pop music; he began writing and (with a predominant influence from Michael Franks) began pursuing vocals.
