David Swanson

Born in San Bernardino, California, and studied at Cal State San Bernardino, George Fox University (Newberg Ore.) and also American Conservatory of Music (Chicago, Ill.). In his early years his career took off with Gary Wright opening for Peter Frampton and several years later, David broke out on his own working in select jazz club venues throughout Japan as a featured solo Keyboardist/Vocalist. He traveled internationally between Europe and Asia as he acquired a vast international repertoire and fan base and later he began to establish himself as a songwriter and was introduced to jazz and pop legend producer Quincy Jones who signed David as a staff writer with Quest Records.  It was during this time that David wrote songs recorded by the “Pointer Sisters”, one of which was later used as a commercial jingle for the Coca Cola corp. Through his association with Quincy Jones, David met and recorded background vocals with Michael Jackson, Darryl Phinnessee, Kevin Dorsey and Siedah Garret, which were later used on the “ J5 Victory Tour. As well, David sang in the chorus of “The Color Purple” and has appeared on the Tonight Shows with Johnny Carson, Arsenio Hall, Jay Leno and David Letterman. Included in his touring history in both musician and vocal performance as keyboardist with Brenda Russell, Jeffrey Osborne, Gerald Albright and more. After touring as a Keyboardist for Anita Baker, David and his wife Denise established a small recording studio in Los Angeles. Residing now on Oahu he entertains in 5star jazz venues, David continues to write and produce in his studio while still entertaining at the elegant Kahala Hotel and Resort on a continued nightly schedule.
